Dying Presidents

It is well known that our second and third Presidents, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, died on the same day, July 4, 1826.  Less well known is that our fifth President, James Monroe, died on July 4, 1831.  In the early summer of 1836 as the health of our fourth President, the 85 year old James Madison, worsened his doctors offered to do their best to keep him alive until July 4.  Rebuffing their efforts, the ex-President, who always preferred a low-profile, passed away on June 28.
