This Billy Hamilton is the second Billy Hamilton in major league history. The first was also a speedster known as Sliding Bill Hamilton who played with the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Beaneaters from 1888 to 1901. From 1893 through 1898, Sliding Billy hit .380, .403, .389, .366, .343 and .369, stole 100 or more bases on four occasions and once scored 198 runs in a season.
